In Scrum, this might happen during sprint planning or daily stand-ups when no one challenges a proposed solution, even if they suspect it\u2019s flawed \u2013 all to maintain a \u201cgood vibe.\u201d While it might <em>appear<\/em> that the team is aligned and decisions are smooth, the reality can be harmful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine this: A team agrees on a technical approach, but no one mentions it failed in the past. Everyone stays silent to keep the peace. The result? Groupthink is preventable. Here are some practices that Scrum Masters and Agile teams can apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-10\"><strong>Foster psychological safety<\/strong><br>Create an environment where it\u2019s safe to voice dissent or concerns without fear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maximize the value of retrospectives<\/strong><br>Retrospectives are the perfect tool to spot Groupthink. If decisions are made too quickly without discussion, it&#8217;s a red flag. Work together to break this pattern.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rotate the \u201cDevil\u2019s Advocate\u201d role<\/strong><br>Assign someone to actively challenge decisions. This stimulates healthy debate and deeper analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Educate the team<\/strong><br>When teams understand what Groupthink is, they\u2019re better equipped to spot it.
